We study perception and language processing across multiple timescales, using multiple techniques. Our goal is to better understand cognition using measures that track real-time processing and models that learn the way humans do.

Welcome to the Word Recognition & Auditory Perception (WRAP) Lab in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Villanova University! Our group studies cognition and perception, with a particular focus on spoken language processing and speech perception. We use a combination of computational, cognitive neuroscience, and behavioral techniques to study these processes, and our work addresses a range of topics including the neural basis of language, effects of hearing difficulty, top-down effects on perception, individual differences, and computational models of speech development and categorization.

We are committed to creating and sustaining a lab culture that welcomes scientists of all backgrounds, and we strive to make our lab a respectful, friendly, and supportive place. We take a student-centered approach, and trainees at all levels have an opportunity to make meaningful contributions and gain valuable skills. Meet the team and find out how to join the lab!
